2019 AGM Recap
The 2019 CARE Housing Society AGM was held on April 24, 2019 at the Elves Special Needs Society.
The AGM started with the presentation of the financial statements by King and Company, Chartered Accountants. Overall, CARE had a good year with revenue of $132,000 and expenses of $152,000. Last fall, the Board decided to demolish the house that is currently on the lot where the fourth CARE home will be built. As a result, there was less rental revenue than originally anticipated.
The Board was pleased to report that CARE had a casino that raised over $74,000 in support of House 4! The funds from the casino are not recorded as revenue until they are spent, due to requirements from AGLC. Fundraising efforts continued with a successful Pub Night at Pub 1905 and a Value Village fundraiser. The annual Grey Cup raffle was very close to sold out as well. In total, CARE raised almost $21,000 in donations and fund raising in 2019.
A Fundraising Development Plan Committee was established and the Board approved the Plan that the Committee developed. The Plan identifies new sources of funds and different approaches to fundraising. A Fundraising Committee was established to support implementation of the Plan. Kick Point (a marketing agency) contributed knowledge and expertise that has accelerated the implementation of the Plan. Kick Point developed a new logo and website and assisted with promotional items such as mugs and pens. They have also supported the development of an updated Vision and Mission for CARE. We introduced our new Mission and Vision at the AGM,
Vision: To provide sustainable housing for youth and adults with developmental disabilities who need specialized care and support in uniquely equipped homes in Edmonton.
Mission: Build homes. Change Lives. Provide Support
We build and provide accessible homes to meet the unique needs of our residents, change lives by providing security and peace of mind to families, and support our residents' health and quality of life with safe, happy and stimulating environments.
Volunteers and Corporate Sponsors were recognized at the meeting.
