What is CARE?
The CARE Housing Society is an Edmonton based non-profit organization that develops and maintains homes for people with disabilities. CARE is governed by a volunteer board of eight directors who are dedicated to providing a place to call home for dependently handicapped youth and adults with various disabilities for their lifetime. CARE Housing Society operates three homes in Edmonton and has recently purchased property to develop a fourth home. 

What services does CARE provide?
CARE provides housing to meet the special needs of their disabled residents and is committed to providing affordable housing that is inclusive in the community. CARE also supports families who are coping with the challenges of finding stable housing for their disabled loved ones.

How does CARE operate?
CARE is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board that is very involved with daily decisions.  CARE also has a part time administrative support.  CARE relies on fundraising, donations and volunteers to maintain existing and develop new homes.

Is CARE a non-profit?
Yes, CARE is a non-profit Society and tax deductible receipts are issued for all donations. A volunteer board operates the Society.

What types of people does CARE support?
The CARE Housing Society provides housing for dependently handicapped youth and adults with various disabilities.  Many of our residents have developmental disabilities and are medically fragile.

How many houses and residents does CARE have?
CARE Housing Society currently has 14 dependently handicapped individuals with various disabilities living in three homes. CARE has purchased a property and is currently planning the development of a fourth home that will accommodate an additional five people.

Where are the homes located?
CARE operates three homes in Edmonton. A fourth home is being planned in the west end of Edmonton.

How can I support CARE?
CARE appreciates the support it receives ranging from volunteer hours to support administration and fund raising, to items donated for fundraisers and cash donations .
